Our people case study - Vanessa Robinson
Vanessa graduated from Northumbria University in 2015 with an Honours degree in History. Whilst studying, she volunteered in South America and for Durham Constabulary in the partnerships department, working within local communities. She then completed a Level 3 Technical Sales Apprenticeship whilst working in recruitment. She knew she wanted to support and work in her local community and applied to join our Customer Services team in 2018.
That was when her career really started to develop as she was ideally placed to gain great insight into all our services. When an opportunity arose within the Livin Futures team in 2020, Vanessa seized the opportunity with both hands, offering 1-2-1 support to tenants with work and training needs, developing relationships in local communities, and regularly assisting in enterprise career events at local schools and colleges.
In September 2022, Vanessa applied for an exciting career development opportunity as the Customer Voice and Complaint Manager and was successful in her application. She is now driving challenging and exciting new changes to the way we manage customer feedback and ensure our customer voice informs key decisions.

My confidence has really grown since I joined Livin, with lots of opportunity to progress I feel the organisation has really invested in my personal development. Since starting I have completed a Level 3 Customer Service in Housing with the Chartered Institute of Housing and a Level 4 in Information, Advice and Guidance and have more training scheduled in for 2023 to support me in my new role."
